The Musculoskeletal Repair and Regeneration Core Center

The Musculoskeletal Repair and Regeneration Core Center (MRRCC) is an NIH funded center dedicated to providing services to investigators interested in musculoskeletal research, with special emphasis on repair and regeneration of cartilage and other soft tissues and bone.

The Core Center consists of three Research Cores: Analytical Microscopy, Musculoskeletal Imaging, and Mechanical and Material Assessment, organized under an Administrative Unit. The administrative unit provides advice on study design and data evaluation through the Epidemiology & Biostatistics unit.

Each core is under the leadership of a core director and co-director with one or more affiliated core committees. The core committees serve advisory functions to both the core director and the core users, provide a mechanism for liaison between research base investigators and clinician scientists, and assist in quality control. The Core Center also conducts enrichment programs aimed at encouraging interaction and collaboration between core users and at providing users with seminars and individual meetings with outside experts invited to HSS to share their experience and to assess the research cores. An E-Newsletter is produced quarterly. The Core Center provides investigators with access to shared techniques (and the necessary equipment and facilities to utilize them) and with training and technical support. To enhance the multidisciplinary research activities, the Core Center releases requests for P&F applications to a wide range of institutions, including HSS, Cornell’s Weill Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and the Biomedical Engineering Program at Cornell’s Ithaca campus.

Core use is open to all investigators. Priority in each core is given to:

  • Holders of MRRCC P&F Projects
  • Members of the MRRCC Research Base (those NIH-funded members of the HSS/Cornell complex carrying out projects related to the theme of the core)
  • Other NIH funded investigators
  • Internal research
  • External research
  • Please see the links to the specific cores for fee scales or contact the core directors for scheduling information.
