Hip Osteonecrosis - Hip Conditions

Osteonecrosis of the hip, also known as avascular necrosis, is a condition that results from a significant loss of blood supply to the head of the femur, the “ball” of the ball and socket hip joint. Osteonecrosis of the hip is a disabling condition that can lead to hip joint collapse. Without an adequate blood supply, the head of the femur dies and collapses, making hip movement painful and may lead to arthritis and other complications.
