Dr. Answorth Allen to be Honored

A former governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, a world famous actor, and Bermuda's premier are to be honored later this month by the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies.

Several other prominent individuals are to be honored at this year's major function whose proceeds will be donated to the UWI.

They are on the list of almost a dozen honorees for the 12th annual gala of the foundation to be held on January 29 at The Pierre in New York City.

Among them will be Dr. Answorth Allen, associate attending orthopedic surgeon, Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service, at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

"The foundation is committed to the task of helping the UWI maintain its record of excellence in education; and the annual gala, now in its 13th year, helps us to achieve our goal," said Karl Rodney, publisher of the New York Carib News weekly newspaper.
