Panthers' Allen, Injury Discussed by Hospital for Special Surgery

SI.com - Cat Crave—January 24, 2016

SI.com’s Cat Crave reports that Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen broke a bone in his foot and may not be able to play in the upcoming Super Bowl. The reporter speaks with Jonathan Deland, MD, foot and ankle surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, for his medical insight into these types of fractures.

"If the athlete plays on Sunday, he certainly could delay healing of bone or potentially make it more difficult for it to heal," said Dr. Deland. "His ability in playing certainly may be affected because of pain."
