Tigers' Matt Treanor likely out for rest of season

Detroit Free Press—May 2, 2009

The Tigers announced today that catcher Matt Treanor likely will miss the remainder of the season.

Treanor underwent surgery Thursday on his right hip to remove a bone spur that was causing inflammation, the club announced.

The operation was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Treanor was placed on the disabled list last weekend with a right hip strain. At that point, he was expected to miss at least a few months.
