NIH Funds Research to Identify New Treatment Pathways

Research Means Hope/AAMC—June 28, 2013

Research Means Hope is a campaign of the Association of American Medical Colleges and its member-medical schools and teaching hospitals to raise public awareness of the critical need for sustained federal investment in medical research conducted through the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The research described at this link features Hospital for Special Surgery scientists Adele Boskey, PhD, and Alessandra Pernis, MD.

The scientists received new NIH funding in 2012 to support their explorations into the how and why of bone and autoimmune disease. They conduct laboratory research that may be the first step in developing new treatments for patients.
