HSS Celebrates Nurses Week 2009

“Nurses: Building a Healthy America.” That’s the theme of this year’s National Nurses Week, May 6-12, which celebrated all the things nurses accomplish every day.

The week-long celebration at HSS, May 5-8, included lunch and learn poster presentations, breakfast for the night staff and keynote speakers Ron Perez, RN, assistant vice president for Nursing, Perioperative Services; and Loretta Chin, RN, nurse resident on 6E. On May 7, the 2009 Excellence in Professional Nursing Practice awards were presented in the Richard L. Menschel Education Center, hosted by Stephanie Goldberg, MSN, RN, CNAA-BC, vice president of Patient Care and chief nursing officer. Each year nurses from every unit nominate a co-worker who exemplifies excellence at work.

And the winners are…
