Dr. Martin O'Malley, Orthopedic Surgeon, says: "Metatarsals are the long bones of the foot. They connect the toes to the rest of the foot and also comprise the ball of the foot. It isn't uncommon for elongated metatarsal issues to arise with dancers, but rarely activities."
