Hospital for Special Surgery's Pastoral Care Department is a testament to an important mission of the Hospital – caring for the spiritual needs of each patient. We know you are here for the best clinical care for your muscle, bone, or joint pain. We also know that you might be feeling alone, in discomfort, or far from your family. Pastoral Care can enhance your sense of security and feeling of hope with services ranging from prayer to food selections that you recognize as part of your religion. Whether you and your family are Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, or have no religious affiliation, we are available to give support and comfort.
The Pastoral Care Department is a multi-faith chaplaincy providing spiritual care to both patients and their families during their stay at HSS. Should you desire prayer, communion, confession, sacrament of the sick, assistance with decision making, or just a listening ear and comforting presence, our pastoral ministry team tends to your spiritual questions and concerns, just as the clinical staff tends to your medical needs.
Pastoral care focuses on the “whole person” so that all physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are addressed while you or your loved one is hospitalized. Pastoral care services are part of getting well at HSS.
