Pediatric Occupational Therapy

About Katie Ross

Katie is a pediatric occupational therapist and certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP). She has worked in several different pediatric settings, and has experience working with a broad range of diagnoses with clients of different ages, from infants and toddlers, to teens and young adults. Katie holds particular interests in the areas of assistive technology, pediatric orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions, splinting and orthotic fabrication, neurologic and neuromotor disorders including cerebral palsy, wheelchair mobility training, treatment of the medically complex child, and fine motor skill acquisition. She has additional experience with OT-based aquatic therapy as an adjunct to land therapy, wheelchair clinic including Power Mobility Training, modified Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (mCIMT) for unilateral upper extremity functioning, Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) for infants, and Ayres Sensory Integration.

Katie holds a passion for working with both her clients and their families in order to maximize quality of life, developmental and functional gains, and access to age appropriate experiences for all. She utilizes her specialization in assistive technology with many of her clients in order to improve participation in age-appropriate play, executive function training, environmental control for access in the home, and using function-based alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) in collaboration with our SLP’s. She believes collaboration with her PT and SLP colleagues is critical to providing the highest quality of care to her clients and their families, and values the teamwork of the HSS Pediatric Rehab team. 

Katie has a long-standing connection to the Pediatric Rehab team since beginning her clinical training as a student at HSS. She received her undergraduate degree from the George Washington University, and her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University.
