Heidi Skolnik, MS, CDN, FACSM

Considered a thought leader in nutrition, Heidi has influenced millions through her media work, writing and thriving consulting business. Heidi has been part of The Women’s Sports Medicine Center at HSS for over 20 years. Her company, Nutrition Conditioning, oversees the Performance Nutrition program at The Juilliard School and the School of American Ballet and she has consulted with numerous Broadway shows. Prior, Skolnik worked with the NY Knicks Basketball (7 years), NY Giants Football (18 years), the NY Mets Baseball organizations (15 years) and has worked with the NHL, MLS, WNBA, and Olympic, collegiate, high school and recreational athletes. Heidi sat on the board of The National Osteoporosis Foundation for 10 years and has co-authored 3 books including Nutrient Timing for Peak Performance; the right food, the right time, the right results (Human Kinetics, 2010). Heidi has earned two Masters degrees (exercise physiology and human nutrition) and is a Fellow with the American College of Sports Medicine.
 
An experienced and sought after presenter, Heidi consults and presents nationwide to corporations, professional organizations, universities and colleges. As an expert resource for national media (on-line, print and TV), Heidi has been seen on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Early Show, The Dr. Oz Show, The Meredith Vieira Show, Primetime, 20/20, Extra, The Weather Channel, The Fox News Channel, ESPN, the YES Network , Food Network, CNN American Morning and Headline News.
 
As a realist, Heidi believes M&M’s can fit into a healthy eating style along with red peppers, red meat, broccoli, and fresh fruit.
 
In addition to general sports nutrition, wellness, active aging, and bone health, treating the Female Athlete Triad and Relative Energy In Sports (RED-s) continues to be an area of expertise as Heidi works in collaboration with other members of a clients team to help each athlete get back to health and performance. 

How to Request an Appointment

  • A physician referral is required
    • HSS physicians use the electronic Referral to Nutrition Services in the medical record 
    • Non-HSS physicians use the Outpatient Nutrition Referral Form and follow instructions on the form
  • After obtaining a physician referral, call Patient Access to make initial appointment at 212.774.2305
  • Fill out the Food and Beverage Journal for 3 days prior to your appointment and bring the journal to your initial visit
