Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been demonstrated to improve therapeutic outcomes for patients across multiple treatment continuums while also improving job satisfaction and therapeutic efficacy for healthcare providers. This presentation will provide an overview of behavioral science research and neuroscience research, as well as clinical examples of ways that mindfulness meditation and its primary benefit, mindful awareness, can enhance clinical practice for all healthcare professionals.

About Robert Schmehr, LCSW
Robert Schmehr, LCSW is the manager of the Mind-Body Therapy Program at the Integrative Medicine Service of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Mr. Schmehr has worked in health psychology for more than twenty years. His clinical orientation integrates psychoanalytic theories of intersubjectivity with various forms of meditation, medical hypnosis and yoga. In addition to his work at MSKCC, Mr. Schmehr maintains a private practice in Manhattan.
