Two and half years ago I was a college student who was very frustrated about my chronic knee pain. I was told by several orthopedic surgeons that the cause of my pain was from my bow legs and there was nothing that could be done about it, but I refused to believe that. My husband told me to Google “deformity correction surgeries” and the first link that popped up was Hospital for Special Surgery. After reading Dr. Fragomen’s bio I decided to send an email explaining my problem. The very next day I got the response that I was looking for. He informed me that he had treated several people for this condition.
I was very nervous about flying out to New York City from California by myself for the initial consultation, since my husband was deployed to Afghanistan. When I met Dr. Fragomen, all of my worries went away. He explained everything about the procedures and after-care processes. I knew that I was making the right decision about going through with the surgeries.
It sounds odd to say that going through this kind of surgery was a fun experience, but Dr. Fragomen and the entire hospital staff took excellent care of me. In between the surgeries, Dr. Fragomen was fantastic about keeping in touch with me and making sure that all of my needs were being met. The surgery and the experience inspired me to change my career path. Now I am a personal trainer and have competed in 3 fitness competitions, placing in all 3! I am also participating in the Alcatraz swim in San Francisco this May, no worries, no pain! Thanks goes out to you Dr. Fragomen and to the staff at Hospital for Special Surgery, you have improved my quality of life by leaps and bounds!
