ORTHOPRENEUR—May 5, 2016
ORTHOPRENEUR'S Hannah Corcoran writes about how computer-assisted surgery systems, like robotics, surgical planning, and navigation, are being incorporated in the field of orthopedics.
Andrew D. Pearle, MD, a sports medicine surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, is featured in the article explaining that, "It's about the robot achieving a task that is hard for us to do manually. It may be that as we get more knowledgeable, the robot becomes an enabling technology rather than just a facilitating technology, so we can do procedures that we previously couldn't do. That's where I'd love to see it go."
