CBS This Morning—April 17, 2017
CBS This Morning featured HSS primary care sports medicine physician Jordan D. Metzl, MD on his 9-minute strength training workout that was previously featured in The New York Times.
According to a recent study, strength training done twice a week helps prevent heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
Dr. Metzl said "you can do a ton in nine minutes. This is called high intensity interval training. Basically, you take a one minute at a time workout at maximum intensity, and that translates into much bigger gains." He added, "the reason this is so efficient is because you are working all of your muscles at once."
He advocated the importance of strength training, and he wants his patients "to move and be active for their entire lives."
