Hospital for Special Surgery launches global initiative

Modern Healthcare's quality-and-safety beat reporter Elizabeth Whitman reports that HSS launches a global initiative.

"Many countries, if not all, are grappling with providing good orthopedic care to growing populations who need hip and knee replacements," said Laura Robbins, DSW, CSW, MSW, senior vice president of Global & Academic Affairs at HSS. "We wanted to assist but have a strategic way of going about it."

HSS is focusing on opportunities in Asia, the Persian Gulf states and Latin America. The new initiative comprises varying tiers, from advisory and business support services to membership in HSS' Global Orthopedic Alliance.
