Jernigan Knocked Out for Season as Giants Injuries Mount

The hits keep on coming to the wounded Giants.

Receiver Jerrel Jernigan was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with a mid-foot injury, joining cornerback Walter Thurmond, who went down Sunday with a torn pectoral muscle.

Thurmond underwent surgery Tuesday morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery to repair his torn pectoral muscle. He faces a 3-to-4 month recovery. Having signed a one-year contract, he may have played his last game for the Giants. Trumaine McBride will fill Thurmond’s role as the nickel back.
