Medscape—April 6, 2017
Medscape interviewed HSS orthopedic resident Benedict Nwachukwu, MD, MBA, who discussed patient satisfaction, rehabilitation, hip impingement, and doctor reviews.
Dr. Nwachukwu is pursuing a fellowship and specialization in sports medicine. He recently presented a study on athletes' satisfaction when they return to play after a surgery. "We found a high rate of return to play (87%) and a high rate of satisfaction (over 80% said that they were very satisfied), and 98% of the patients said that they would have surgery again if they needed to."
"It seems as though for patients who are able to return to their sport, they're more likely to be happy, which is an important finding."
