Is heel pain often misdiagnosed as plantar fasciitis? CBS 2 Medical Anchor Dr. Max Gomez visits Dr. Rock Positano, director and founder of the Non-surgical Foot and Ankle Service at HSS, to find out. A recent study by Dr. Positano found between a quarter and a third of plantar fasciitis cases actually had tears of the ligament in the soles of the feet. A tear would have very different treatment than plantar fasciitis as stretching would make the tear bigger.
