Mr. Weill has had a notable business career. He is a former chairman and CEO of Citigroup, having retired as CEO in 2003 and served as non-executive Chairman until 2006. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Weill was chairman and CEO of Travelers, chairman of Commercial Credit Company, president of American Express Company, as well as chairman and chief executive officer of the American Express Company’s Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company subsidiary, and co-founder and chairman of Carter, Berlind, Potoma & Weill. In 1998, Mr. Weill was the recipient of Financial World Magazine’s CEO of the Year Award and received the same honor from Chief Executive Magazine in 2002. Today, Mr. Weill sits on the board of Koç Holding, headquartered in Turkey.

Mr. Weill is chairman of the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medical College and Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (since 1995); chairman of Carnegie Hall (since 1991); founder and chairman of the National Academy Foundation (since 1980); chairman of the Green Music Center Board of Advisors at Sonoma State University; a member of the Executive Council of the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center; a member of the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony; director of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation; serves on the Board of Governors of Sidra specialty teaching hospital in Qatar; and is a member of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York Education Reform Commission. Mr. Weill was recently elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Mr. Weill is a graduate of Cornell University. He and his wife, Joan, have been married for 57 years and were the recipients of the 2009 Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy Award. They have two children and four grandchildren.
