About Dr. Voellmicke

Dr. Kurt Voellmicke is a foot and ankle surgeon at HSS specializing in both operative and non-operative treatment of a wide range of orthopedic foot and ankle conditions and traumatic injuries of the lower extremity. He has a robust background in both medical practice and biomechanical research. 

After earning a degree in chemical engineering at Cornell University, Dr. Voellmicke received his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College. In addition to teaching anatomy, he also worked in a biomechanics laboratory where he studied the effects of dietary boron on bone strength. At graduation, he was awarded several prestigious accolades, including the Good Physician Award, the Gustave Noback Memorial Prize in Anatomy, and the Robert M. Lintz Prize for Proficiency in Rheumatic Diseases.

Dr. Voellmicke then completed both residency and fellowship at HSS. During residency, he conducted research on femur fracture fixation and during fellowship he received an OREF grant to study the biomechanics of soft tissue attachments of the os peroneum in the foot. Following fellowship, Dr. Voellmicke served as an attending physician at HSS, providing expert coverage for the Foot and Ankle Clinic for many years.

For the past 23 years, Dr. Voellmicke has practiced in a community-based setting, bringing comprehensive care to patients of all ages. He remains dedicated to improving patient outcomes through both innovative and time-tested methods. Dr. Voellmicke's guiding principle has always been to treat each patient as an individual, with an unwavering focus on patient-centered care.
