New York, NY—February 10, 2016
On November 17, 2015, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU), welcomed Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), ranked No. 1 in orthopedic surgery in the U.S., to China to sign a medical service collaboration contract. This is the first official collaboration for HSS with a hospital in China. HSS and SAHZU will initiate a second opinion program for Orthopedics cases thru OptOnc. Both parties will conduct routine case studies, continue exchange visits, and look forward to enhancing the cooperation in clinical practice, research science and education.
The VIP visitors from HSS included: Mathias Bostrom, MD, orthopedic surgeon, Brian VanVelzor, senior director of International Center, Allison Grande, director of Global Partnerships, and Seth Jerabek, MD, orthopedic surgeon. Also in attendance was Zhang Guangjian, CEO of OptOnc, a third-party medical concierge company. The SAHZU team, including Huang Jian, VP, Tian Mei, VP, Yang Mingli, director of International Office, Yan Shigui, director of Orthopedics, and Dai Xuesong, deputy chief of Orthopedics, welcomed the HSS visitors.
The contract signing ceremony was hosted by Ms. Tan. SAHZU, HSS and OptOnc exchanged ideas for a successful collaboration. After the ceremony, Dr. Bostrom presented on "Complex Total Hip Revisions" and explained the methodologies and effects of replacements and revision surgeries, followed by a Q&A session. Later, the HSS team toured the Orthopedics inpatient unit at SAHZU and participated in a case study roundtable with the SAHZU Orthopedic team.
