Six doctors at New York City's Hospital for Special Surgery's (HSS) Old Greenwich Affiliated Physician Office have been listed in New York Magazine's "Best Doctors" issue, which was published this week. Overall, 30 HSS doctors were included in the magazine's annual round-up of top doctors.
More than 15 HSS surgeons and physicians are affiliated with HSS' office in Old Greenwich, which opened in 2001. They include orthopedic surgeons specializing in spine, hip and knee, sports medicine, pediatrics, hand and upper extremity, and foot and ankle. HSS rheumatologists offer specialized care for those with musculoskeletal diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis and for autoimmune diseases such as lupus.
The Old Greenwich doctors included in the "Best Doctors" issue include:
Dr. Frank P. Cammisa, Jr. - specializes in spinal surgery and spinal nucleoplasty. Dr. Cammisa is featured in the magazine for his innovative total disk replacement (TDR) surgery, which is currently in FDA trials. TDR is a minimally invasive alternative to lumbar spinal fusion, currently the only way to surgically relieve chronic back pain.
Dr. Jo A. Hannafin - specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic shoulder surgery and ligament reconstruction. She is the co-director of HSS' Women's Sports Medicine Center in New York and will be one of two HSS doctors on the seven-doctor U.S. Olympic Committee's Medical Staff for the Games in Athens this summer.
Dr. Robert N. Hotchkiss - specializes in hand surgery, wrist arthroscopy and elbow reconstruction.
Dr. Harvinder Sandhu - specializes in minimally invasive surgery, spinal-disc replacement and spinal surgery.
Dr. Russell F. Warren - specializes in knee and shoulder reconstruction and replacement.
Dr. Scott W. Wolfe - specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery.
