Dr. Cross specializes in adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee, including primary and revision joint replacements.
He attended Washington University in St. Louis for his undergraduate education, where he double majored in chemistry and mathematics/statistics and played varsity football. He graduated medical school from Vanderbilt University as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Cross completed his residency at HSS, where he was awarded the Russell Warren Basic Science Research Award and the Jean McDaniel Award, which is given to the Chief Resident who best demonstrates leadership, professionalism and ethics in the care of patients. In addition, he was voted by the faculty as the Distinguished Housestaff Award winner at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
After residency, Dr. Cross completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center, where he won the Jorge O. Galante, MD Fellow Research Award. Dr. Cross joined HSS as a clinician-scientist and currently has over 55 publications and has received numerous research awards at local, regional, and national levels, including the 2013 Frank Stinchfield Award from the Hip Society and the 2013 OREF/ORS Travel Award in Translational Research from the Orthopaedic Research Society.

Effective January 1, 2020, Dr. Cross will be changing status with the Medicare Program to that of “Non-Participating Provider.” Dr. Cross will still be enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program and will still be able to treat you. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Austin Cavelli earned her bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from Binghamton University. She was elected into several honor societies including Sigma Alpha Lambda, the National Honor and Merit Scholars Society, and the National Society for Leadership and Success. While at Binghamton, Austin spent two years in the research lab of Dr. Stephen Boehm, investigating the neurobiology of alcohol addiction. After undergraduate studies, she moved to New York, NY where she worked as a research assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Gilbert Di Paolo at Columbia University studying the aging brain. At the same time, she worked as a research coordinator and medical assistant in the vascular surgery department at Weill Cornell Medical College, providing the clinical experience necessary to attend PA school. In 2014, Austin graduated from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences with a physician assistant’s certificate as well as a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. She is board certified through the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed in the state of New York.
Austin started practicing at HSS focusing on adult reconstruction and joint replacements in 2014. She has been working as a private physician assistant with Dr. Michael Cross since 2015 to provide cohesive and patient-centered care. Her duties include first assisting Dr. Cross in the operating room as well as seeing patients in clinic. Austin routinely sees patients herself including initial consults for both surgical and non-operative care management, as well as routine post-op care.

Born in Manhattan, NY, and raised in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx, Konstantinos Ververis earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College. At Manhattan College, Konstantinos completed his major in Biology and minor in Chemistry in 2005. After completing his undergraduate studies, he then attended the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY. In 2009, he completed his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies with Summa Cum Laude Honors. He is board certified through the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) and is licensed in the state of New York. He is an active member with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) as well as the New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA).
In 2009, Konstantinos worked as a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant at Bellevue Hospital in affiliation with NYU Langone Medical Center and New York University School of Medicine. There he gained his experience in complex patient management in the telemetry unit, cardiac ICU, cardiothoracic surgery clinic, as well as first assisting in the cardiothoracic operating room. He was also an active member with the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery (APACVS).
In 2011, Konstantinos joined HSS as a Core Orthopaedic Surgery Physician Assistant, providing exceptional care to patients, during and after surgery. From conducting pre-operative assessments and first assisting in the operating room through to service-specific post-operative management on the floors, Konstantinos was a highly-involved, key member of the interdisciplinary team. He has specialized in multiple orthopedic subspecialties including Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacements, Sports, Spine, Trauma, Foot and Ankle, Limb Lengthening, and Hand. He is a veteran orthopedic surgery first assist in the operating room and has trained multiple colleagues throughout his years at HSS. He also has vast inpatient floor and clinical experience and is highly recognized amongst his peers.
In 2019, Konstantinos took on his role in working as a private Physician Assistant to Dr. Michael Cross to provide cohesive and patient-centered care.
