Dr. Nnaemeka Echebiri is a physiatrist at HSS specializing in spine and musculoskeletal medicine. In particular, he treats chronic and acute ailments affecting the neck, back, joints, and extremities. He also has a special interest in sports medicine and evaluation of neurological disorders through electrodiagnostics.
After completing his undergraduate education at Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY, Dr. Echebiri assisted in research at NYU Langone Medical Center's Center for Healthful Behavior Change, focusing on community interventions to help reduce mortality from hypertensive disease and colorectal cancer in African American men. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by an internship in General Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. He then completed residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, followed by an Interventional Spine & Musculoskeletal Fellowship at OSS Health in York, PA.
Dr. Echebiri hails from New York City, where he grew up in Harlem. He has an extensive sports background, having competed in football, wrestling, and track and field. Of these, he is most passionate about track and field, which he participated in and coached at the club level. He also enjoys music, film, and exploring the many attractions of New York City.
