Patient Surgeon: S. Robert Rozbruch
Colleen is 45 and at age 10 was diagnosed with a bone tumor (ABC). This was treated with radiation which damaged her growth plate causing shortening. She had 4 cm of discrepancy, a stiff knee with valgus deformity, and equinovarus deformity of the foot and ankle.
The first stage of treatment involved a double level tibia osteotomy to partially correct the knee valgus and to correct the equinovarus deformity of the foot and ankle. Watch animation of procedure.
The second stage of treatment involved a distal femur and knee replacement to complete the correction of the deformity and leg length discrepancy and remove irradiated bone that was at risk for becoming cancer.
