No Show and Late Cancellation Appointment Policy

Policy

It is the goal of HSS to provide excellent care to each patient in a timely manner. If it is necessary to cancel an appointment, patients are required to cancel online, call or leave a message at least 24 hours before their appointment time. Notification allows the facility to better utilize appointments for other patients in need of prompt medical care.

Description

“No Show” shall mean any patient who fails to arrive for a scheduled encounter. “Late Cancellation” shall mean any patient who cancels an appointment less than 24 hours before their scheduled appointment.
This will apply to all patients except for patients with Medicaid, Emblem Embassy coverages and patients with approved financial assistance.

Procedure

  1. A patient is notified of the appointment “No Show and Late Cancellation Appointment Policy” at the time of scheduling or the initial appointment for a calendar year, in writing and will be required to acknowledge the policy with a signature at the time of check-in. This policy can and will be made available to patients via patient portal, paper and via signage.
  2. Established patients:
    1. Appointment must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.
    2. HSS reserves the right to charge the patient a $50 charge for the no show or late cancellation of the appointment.
  3. New patients:
    1. Appointment must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment time.
    2. In the event of a no-show or late cancellation, HSS may require a new referral sent from the referring physician.
    3. HSS reserves the right to charge the patient a $50 charge for the no show or late cancellation of the appointment.
