The HSS Women's Sports Medicine Center (WSMC) provides comprehensive musculoskeletal care from a multidisciplinary team of specialists including sports medicine doctors, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, physical therapists and sports psychologists. The primary sports medicine physicians at the Women’s Sports Medicine Center see all nonsurgical musculoskeletal issues as well as sports-related medical issues. These include overtraining issues like the Female Athlete Triad, exercise-induced asthma, diabetes, recurrent stress fractures, and exercise during pregnancy, post-partum, and through menopause.
The orthopedic surgeons at the Women’s Sports Medicine Center offer comprehensive care of both nonsurgical and surgical injuries. If surgery is required, our surgeons have unparalleled experience with sports medicine procedures like ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, knee and hip arthroscopy, cartilage restoration, shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, and much more.
Our sports nutritionists are extensively trained and skilled in treating women of all ages and lifestyles from the fitness enthusiast to the elite female athlete. Incorporating up-to-date nutrition science, our team will work with your food preferences, physical activity profile, and lifestyle to design a nutrition program that meets your personal goals and needs.

We offer a full range of orthopedic rehabilitation and performance services from movement and mobility testing to physical therapy and sport-specific training . Our senior physical therapist, who also works in Hospital for Special Surgery's Rehabilitation Department, provides home programs and evaluations for physical therapy at the HSS Sports Medicine, Performance and Research Center. We work closely with our motion analysis lab on optimizing return to play and provide real-time feedback to help patients safely return to their activities after an injury or surgery.
The Perinatal Movement and Physical Well-being Resource Center at HSS is focused on helping patients stay active and healthy before, during, and after pregnancy. Our collaborative group provides personalized care tailored to their unique needs and interests, ranging from back pain during pregnancy to return to exercise after pregnancy. We also offer a complete range of injury prevention and wellness services, including nutrition, massage, and Pilates, designed to support patients in their health and fitness goals.
